In Java, teak is called the king of woods, and a well-made teak piece is still traded second-hand two generations later. Every piece passes through the same small workshop in Jepara, where one craftsman follows it from the first cut to the final sanding. Left alone outdoors it will silver into a soft grey patina; a light sanding and an oil brings the honey colour straight back.
It works at the end of a bed, in a hallway, beside a bathtub or as extra seating when friends arrive. It celebrates the boho way of living: slower, warmer and closer to natural materials. Thanks to its solid wood construction, it can also live on a covered terrace or veranda.
