Rattan is a climbing palm from the forests of Southeast Asia: light, flexible when steamed and remarkably strong once it dries in shape. The weave is built row after row by hand, following techniques passed down through generations of Balinese craftspeople. Hand weaving leaves subtle irregularities in the pattern, the proof that every piece was made by hand. A soft brush and a slightly damp cloth are all it needs; keep it sheltered from rain and strong sun. Built with solid joints and a stable frame, it is made for everyday use, not just for show.
