Teak has long been the wood of choice in Indonesia for pieces meant to last, thanks to a dense grain and natural oils that protect it from humidity. In our Indonesian workshops, the wood is shaped, sanded and finished by hand, step by step, by cabinetmakers who have done nothing else for twenty years. Dust it dry, wipe spills as they happen, and give it a coat of teak oil once a year if you want to hold the golden tone.
